Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)
SMP is used to create the appearance of a full head of closely shaven hair. The treatment is sometimes referred to as medical hair tattooing and is an effective method used to replicate the look of hair follicles using pigment. The pigment is implanted into the balding areas of the scalp, blending seamlessly with any existing hair follicles. The treatment can be used at any stage of hair loss and is an instant and long lasting solution with no real downtime. This is a two way process and we work closely with each individual client to create a bespoke hairline which suits their face shape, colouring and own individual requirements. We aim to create soft, natural hairlines and ultimately a natural looking result.
Carefully built tone and density to define the hairline
This is a three part treatment carried out over a few weeks. Over the duration of the complete treatment, your practitioner will slowly build the tone, density and refine the shape of your hairline. It is paramount that the treatment is carried out over three sessions in order to create a natural result. Each session takes approximately three to four hours depending on individual requirements. Scar treatment is a shorter. The treatment lasts approximately three to four years by which time most clients will require a top up. The pigment will never completely fade away so top ups only require one treatment. The longevity of the procedure also depends on a number of factors including sun exposure and skin type. The top up will refresh and revitalise the original treatment. We only ever use the highest quality equipment and pigments. We are fully licensed and insured and follow rigorous hygiene procedures.
Scalp Micropigmentation is not suitable for all clients and is why we carry out a thorough and detailed consultation prior to the treatment. The consultation is one of the most important aspects of the whole process. Your needs and requirements will be discussed in order to determine your ideal end style, preferred colour density and level of hairline. The hairline will be initially drawn out in white makeup pencil and adjusted and tweaked in order to achieve a hairline that you are completely happy with. If you decide to go ahead the next stage will involve carrying out a shade test to ensure the appropriate colour match. Those clients who have eczema, psoriasis or any other active skin conditions may not be suitable for this treatment.
Clients state that the treatment feels mildly uncomfortable but very rarely do clients report feeling actual pain although obviously this varies from client to client. Pre treatment advice will be given to all clients in order to minimise any discomfort.
